Riz Gukgak

Riz Gukgak is a goblin freshman at the Aguefort Adventuring Academy whose middle-school nickname was "Briefcase Kid" E1·00:35:30. He is searching for his only real friend, the halfling Penny Luckstone, who was technically his babysitter until he was 13 and has recently gone missing E1·00:35:30. His board of missing girls points at the school, and his one clue is that they all went to Aguefort E1·00:36:12 E1·00:38:34. His mother asks why his card says "licensed private investigator", and Riz admits it says "un-" in small print E1·00:38:00 E1·00:38:02. On the first day Ragh Barkrock dunks him into a trashcan and declares that his name is now Ball E1·01:04:59 E1·01:05:07.

Riz Gukgak is a goblin rogue and self-styled investigator who carries a briefcase and business cards, fights with a rapier and a magic arquebus, and works the case of the missing girls E2·00:07:33 E2·00:20:15 E3·01:04:27. His mother is a cop investigating the disappearances, and he learns that his babysitter Penny Luckstone is among the missing E3·00:15:48 E3·01:25:08. Over the first weeks he works the case with clues from palimpsests, Johnny Spells' grave and Zayn Darkshadow's apartment, kills DJ Brainzz "for those girls", and finishes the downed Coach Daybreak with a shot to the head E5·01:24:57 E7·01:01:51 E6·00:51:29 E10·01:16:53. He takes Zayn's rat from Gorthalax the Insatiable, identifies it as Edgar from his notes, and keeps it as a pet E9·00:05:26 E9·00:21:03 E11·01:11:57. He also receives a locker gift of a briefcase that holds anything E11·00:41:09.

Murph says Riz feels residual guilt for not finding Penny yet, though he is happy to have friends E11·01:15:36. He dreams of her and promises "I'm still going to find you" E11·01:20:47. Reading his mother's case box, he finds a secret room with his dad's desk, watches Pok Gukgak's recorded message, takes his father's arquebus and tells Sklonda Gukgak that he knows about his dad E13·01:26:29 E13·01:32:57 E13·01:33:09 E13·01:33:46. At the arcade he is trapped in a palimpsest through Penny's coin game, and after Biz Glitterdew releases him he shoots off two of Biz's fingers and then treats him with his healer kit E14·00:34:29 E14·01:33:57 E14·01:35:20.

After escaping the police precinct with the Sword of Shadows, Riz works out that no dragonborn is on the school staff, and in the final battle Kalvaxus boasts of devouring his father E15·00:46:17 E15·01:06:01 E16·00:45:12. Riz shoots Kalvaxus with his father's gun, goes down, is brought back by Healing Word, and finally teleports with the Sword of Shadows and kills him E16·00:55:35 E17·00:15:43 E17·00:47:09. Penny returns, Riz hangs his dad's bandolier over his father's grave, and his mother hands him a license as Elmville's youngest licensed investigator E17·00:54:44 E17·01:10:31 E17·01:12:57 E17·01:15:56.

Riz Gukgak is the party's goblin rogue and now a licensed private investigator, with an office, Riz Gukgak, Private Eye S2E1·00:03:53 S2E1·00:21:12. He investigates the missing crown and finds that it went missing between prom and 43 days later S2E1·01:03:05. He claims to be dating Baron, whom he met as a pen pal, and later admits he made Baron up as a romance partner so there would be no questions S2E1·01:27:12 S2E1·01:49:30 S2E18·00:44:29. In season 2 he is dragged through the mirror by Baron and later found chained on an altar S2E3a·00:19:44 S2E3a·00:57:50. He researches the Shadow Cat and, with his crystal, can see it in a photo that the others cannot S2E3a·00:06:24 S2E7·01:10:43.

On the road he pushes Adaine to consider that her family might be involved, and pushes Gilear out of the driver's seat S2E4·00:12:07 S2E5·01:48:22. He tells Kalina that she worked with his father, and says she was his dad's partner at one point S2E6·02:14:40 S2E7·00:10:14. In Leviathan he steals the Sylvaire treasure-map book and hides in the rafters, and he shoots Whitclaw in the stomach for 47 damage S2E7·00:52:30 S2E8·00:11:30 S2E8·01:35:55. He falls through the netting with two death-save failures and is cured by Sandra Lynn S2E8·01:39:32 S2E8·01:44:32 S2E8·01:47:34. He tells Ayda that friendship is usually organic S2E8·01:58:34. At the smithy he identifies the braziers as Conjure Elemental traps and shoots the pitchers S2E10·00:17:26 S2E10·00:21:55.

He researches Arianwen's notes and finds Landrin Lier, the devil boundary, and his father's requisition S2E11·01:20:25 S2E11·01:22:35. He reverse-engineers the ritual, asking for a way to do it without killing someone, and argues that going to Hell is a full team event S2E13·00:29:52 S2E13·00:30:05 S2E13·01:19:04. In Hell he finds the coup clause, sees his father Pok Gukgak tied in an interrogation light, and says he wants to free him S2E14·00:12:57 S2E14·01:04:56 S2E14·01:19:29. He acts as Fig's litigator before the tribunal S2E14·02:02:13. Bill fires him from a cannon into Dis, and he Misty Steps into the interrogation room and tries to scoop Pok into the Briefcase of Holding S2E15·01:55:22 S2E15·02:27:13 S2E15·02:27:54. Pok then covers for him as a possible confidential informant, and Riz is cured by Greater Restoration S2E16·00:35:17 S2E16·02:31:37. He accepts a consultant job and receives the Arcadian Watch, Seraphim Vest and Gregori Necktie S2E16·01:43:09 S2E16·01:48:01.

In the forest he records the Kalina footage with the necktie, and takes books at the temple S2E17·00:38:12 S2E17·02:12:24. He runs ahead alone in the mirror realm, and his greatest fear is to have no plan S2E18·00:33:08. He defeats Baron, saying relationships evolve S2E18·01:41:38. In the finale Killian kills him and Fig revives him S2E20·01:57:06 S2E20·02:19:06. He lines up a mirror shot with the gun, kills Kalina, and says "Mission accomplished, Dad" S2E20·03:08:38 S2E20·03:31:51. He shows Sklonda a slideshow of his adventure, and summons the Night Yorb S2E20·04:36:47 S2E20·04:55:37.

In season 3 he is an arcane trickster, a hipster nerd with many rings, a fedora and braces, who drives the Hangvan with a Mage Hand and uses a Sun Gun S3E1·00:19:09 S3E1·00:19:45 S3E1·00:19:51. He flips the van on purpose and sets up an extracurriculars board at home, while Sklonda, who quit the force, tells him on the eve of school that her pension is being fought over S3E2·00:43:38 S3E2·01:58:25 S3E2·01:54:02. He wants every club, becomes Kristen's campaign manager, and plans her legend S3E4·00:59:02 S3E3·01:23:34 S3E4·02:21:26. He is caught by Jawbone while trying to steal Kipperlilly's folder and says "stress is good" S3E3·01:25:25 S3E3·01:25:52. At the Seacaster party he casts Compelled Duel on Kalina with "Kalina, we have unfinished business." S3E5·01:17:18.

He keeps a conspiracy board at Fabian's house and theorizes that the Rat Grinders want the party kicked out S3E6·01:22:09 S3E6·01:20:00. As a level 11 rogue he notes he has Reliable Talent S3E6·01:01:46. He finds Yolanda's body under the stage, becomes treasurer of the clubs, and visits Sklonda about her case S3E9·00:54:40 S3E9·01:17:56 S3E9·01:19:26. Brennan tells him he can isolate Bakur's magic from other power on a successful investigation, and he later discloses to his father what is happening with Ankarna and asks him whether Athenriel is Bakur and whether Sol tricked the gods with an infernal contract S3E10·01:28:03 S3E13·00:41:16 S3E13·00:47:04 S3E13·00:48:41. Sklonda mentions that he asked her to prom S3E11·00:05:49. Jace Stardiamond's letter adds him to the school's staff on an interim basis, and he opens The Ball's briefcase and drags Fig into it; as he dives in after Fig, a hand from the files pulls him out of the way of a gauntlet S3E11·01:00:24 S3E11·02:47:02 S3E11·02:47:41 S3E11·02:50:29. He is The Ball for the Owlbears, steals Kipperlilly's file from Jawbone's desk, and gets a permanent vein on his forehead after his fourth stress token S3E14·00:42:49 S3E14·00:53:06 S3E14·01:13:14. He investigates Ragh's files, which leads to Porter, and Misty Steps into Porter's office S3E17·01:43:29 S3E17·02:31:29. In the last fights he fires cannon shots, hits Kipperlilly with an opportunity attack, shoots Porter with the gun set to radiant damage, and mourns K2 S3E18·00:37:15 S3E19·01:07:39 S3E19·01:31:53 S3E18·01:50:04. In the realm he tells Ankarna he needs to talk to Fig and Kristen, and sees some Kipperlilly in himself, trying "to stop a new dawn" S3E20·02:01:40 S3E20·02:02:56. He then apologizes to Kristen for making her feel she had to be president S3E20·02:24:18. In the epilogue Sklonda says she feels bad about the beginning of the year, and he swaps coffee for tea, looks into the rogue school, then returns to coffee S3E20·02:33:06 S3E20·02:31:39 S3E20·02:31:57 S3E20·02:41:16.
