Gorthalax the Insatiable

Gorthalax the Insatiable is first named when Adaine's Identify spell reads Johnny Spells' switch comb: he is the benefactor of Johnny's warlock pact E5·00:16:31. The spell describes him as a fallen angel, originally an angel of Sol, the sun god, who fell during the reign and fall of Kalvaxus E5·00:16:31. The pact also carries taboos and obligations that Johnny had to keep in order to hold on to the switch comb E5·00:17:09.

After the Identify spell names him as Johnny Spells' benefactor E5·00:16:31, the Hangman tells Fabian that Johnny was visiting his benefactor E7·01:17:42. The Hangman names the benefactor as Gorthalax E7·01:17:55 and calls him "a vision of flame and hatred" E7·01:18:09. At the factory, Fig's drum solo frees him, and Fig greets him as her dad E8·01:24:24. He says that he had been trapped in a ruby E8·01:27:28 and that he made Johnny put his soul in the switch comb as a joke E8·01:28:08.

His intro card calls him Fig's daddy, and Brennan describes him as an ancient demon of flame and fire E9·00:00:42. He says that he was an angel of Sol E9·00:14:05. He fell during Kalvaxus's reign a couple of centuries ago, landed at the Durinson Mithral Factory, and broke out about 15 years ago when the dwarves dug too deep E9·00:14:45. On his way out of Solace he met Sandra Lynn, Fig's mother E9·00:16:56. He says that Arthur Aguefort sealed him in the ruby E9·00:11:22. He corrects Fabian, saying that he is a devil and not a demon E9·00:43:55. He tells the party that Johnny was his vassal and that he owned Johnny's soul E9·00:29:22. He also says that he gave Johnny his powers but never knew what the palimpsests were for E9·00:37:19. He then leaves to check on his infernal realm E9·00:49:06.

Back in Elmville, he says that he has been demoted and that other devil princes have carved up his infernal duchy E11·00:55:06. Goldenhoard introduces him as the new coach of the Aguefort Adventuring Academy E11·00:59:18, and he puts the whole party on the team E11·01:01:14. Later he stops answering Fig's calls E15·00:07:10, and Sandra Lynn says he took the news pretty hard, left, and may have gone back to Hell E15·00:27:39. At prom, Gorgug's drum solo frees him from a ruby again E16·01:25:29, and he fights Kalvaxus with a flaming guitar-axe E16·01:26:47. In the final battle he snaps a wand into a guitar pick E17·00:26:14. Afterwards, in Hell, he scrubs Gorgug's name off a roster E17·01:03:24. The season ends with Gorthalax and Sklonda Gukgak together E17·01:13:04.

Gorthalax the Insatiable is Fig Faeth's father, a devil and former angel of Sol, and the season-1 coach of the Academy's team. In season 2 he appears in a coach whistle and Owlbears cap helping Gorgug carry a bed S2E1·00:43:49. Sklonda Gukgak says she tried to talk to him and that he can find Fig because he is "officially granting her spells" S2E2b·00:30:48. A devil is later shown in a gem, and Fig's father is named as lord of the Bottomless Pit S2E11·01:31:24 S2E13·01:38:30 S2E13·01:47:21.

In a dream he tells Fig that "Tyranny, domination, conquest, all the virtues of Hell. These don't have to be yours" S2E17·01:42:17. In the finale he is a pit fiend and "former master of the Bottomless Pit," bound in the gem until Ayda Aguefort frees him S2E20·01:53:40 S2E20·02:16:44. He flies at the Nightmare King, is extinguished and falls, and is revived by Cassandra S2E20·02:26:23 S2E20·03:21:12 S2E20·04:01:33.

In season 3 his card reads Fig's Dad, Aguefort Owlbears Coach, and he comes looking for his boys to ask whether they want to come to Owlbears tryouts S3E4·00:33:58 S3E4·00:34:09. Whenever he says "Hoot, growl" it happens S3E4·00:44:55. He texts Fig about Gorgug's practice S3E8·00:50:41. He asks Fabian "What the hell is going on out there, Cap?" when the team is slacking S3E10·02:08:04. He calls Fabian "sweetie" S3E11·01:15:51. Gorthalax says the one thing he knows about Ankarna is that she was like him: she did not start infernal, she fell S3E13·01:04:06. He is still shown coaching later in the season S3E16·00:44:45.
