Two Sides of the Same Coin (Part 1)
What happens
- 00:00:10 Brennan's recap (recap): Gramercy Occult Society against Tony Simos, traitorous wizards and Order of the Concrete Fist loyalists "supercharging the umbral engine to bring about an end to magic and unbeknownst to Tony Simos, an end to time itself"; Cody reforged the Questing Blade after "a sick contract on the back of a Jeff Hardy poster with Lucifer"; Pete tethered "from the navel to Sofia Lee"; Ricky "dealt more than a hundred points of damage with Esther's baseball bat"; Rowan cast Counterspells back and forth; Sofia found Dale in the past with the Gotham timepiece and, "just like you guys were able to pull Peter Stuyvesant's wooden leg out of the time stream", pulled him into the future. Dale and Sofia kiss "in front of an umbral engine that is one Dispel Magic away from ending time and space" — 00:00:10–00:01:50.
- 00:02:03 Sofia's turn continues with Dale on her initiative. Dale raises a wife-guy aura (advantage on attacks for anyone within ten feet who is married to him) and casts Magic Weapon at sixth level (+3 to attack and damage). Sofia hits Tony many times, with a critical on a Flurry of Blows; Tony is "truly fucked up" — 00:02:11–00:08:48. She jumps away; Tony's legendary swing deals 16 through Shield — 00:09:37–00:10:10.
- 00:10:48 Pete cannot speak; Cody's Lay on Hands cures Pete and heals him 30; Cody casts Shield of Faith on Ricky — 00:10:48–00:13:05. Pete casts a Heightened Banishment on the top-right wizard, who tries to Counterspell (a 7, read as failing) and then rolls a 2 on the save with disadvantage; Brennan says this wizard was already concentrating on a Banishment spell, and as the wizard is banished Esther appears at the foot of the staircase. Ricky loses Haste (Pete's concentration moved) and his turn — 00:14:01–00:17:32.
- 00:17:35 Esther weeps, scolds the traitors and talks to Ricky about the pregnancy test; she holds the Staff of Sorrow — 00:17:35–00:19:00. Tony kills Ox with a 26-damage blow, hits Pete (24, then 26) and Cody (19), throws Cody 15 feet and knocks Pete prone; Pete passes his concentration and Constitution saves — 00:19:32–00:25:02.
- 00:25:07 JJ moves Blur to Pete. Rowan tries Polymorph on Sofia; Tony's Mage Slayer reaction hits her for 26, breaks her hand and counters the spell — 00:25:24–00:30:00. Esther re-casts Haste on Ricky; Kingston carries Ricky on Cody's moped to the last wizard; Command is Counterspelled; Alejandro hits for 15 and 17; four monks attack Alejandro, two hit, for 25; Pete loses Banishment on a concentration check — 00:30:38–00:38:16.
- 00:38:16 Sofia's second turn: four Flurry hits with a Hexblade crit deal 97 to Tony; she props him up for Dale's kiss and kicks him into the umbral engine — "Tony Simos is defeated!" Ricky Counterspells the last Dispel Magic, Esther Counterspells a Scorching Ray — 00:38:30–00:46:52.
- 00:46:58 Mop-up: Pete's Careful Fireball, Cody's smite kills one, Ricky downs another, JJ's Magic Missile, Rowan's Blinding Smite kills one, Esther petrifies the wizard on the stairs, Kingston's Lightning Bolt fries the last wizard, Dale punches a monk for 31, Sofia stuns one, and Pete's Intimidation makes the last two monks kneel — 00:46:58–01:04:46.
- 01:04:49 Aftermath: Esther undoes the damage, drags the engine down to 150 %, crushes the Gladiator Industries drive; Kingston reveals where the hoard is; Esther and Sofia compare pregnancies; Alejandro marks Gladiator machines on a map of the city and says goodbye; the party takes a short rest on the long bus ride north — 01:04:49–01:16:58.
- 01:17:08 La Gran Gata brings chopped cheeses from Cosmos bodega; Rowan casts a sixth-level motivational speech (20 temporary hit points); more buffs; initiative is rolled — 01:17:08–01:22:42.
- 01:22:51 Exploration of the hidden Central Park North station (110th Street): subway tokens, a platform with two tunnels, Divine Sense reading a primeval dragon presence, the party splits into a baby squad and a daddy squad — 01:22:51–01:33:01.
- 01:33:41 Daddy squad: the automat with the golden boombox (Rowan, Performance 24, gives the room d6 bardic inspiration) and Pete's exchange with the Dutch woman in New Amsterdam; Rowan eats pie — 01:33:41–01:39:13. Baby squad: the street tree gives Ricky and Sofia two apples; Ricky has a bad feeling about the way back — 01:39:18–01:42:34.
- 01:43:41 Both squads reach the burlesque room, then a vault where the Tammany Tiger is caged; Ricky opens the safe at once; the party leaves him — 01:44:16–01:52:39.
- 01:52:55 Through the vault door: the dragon's hoard with a ruby apple, CBGB and Ebbets Field signs; Sofia and Ricky hear Gladiator drones; Kingston feels Null manifest — 01:52:55–01:56:40.
- 01:56:40 Combat round 1: Rowan animates a subway car and two token whirlwinds; Sofia casts Darkness at the hall; corporate spirits arrive; Pete prepares Dispel Evil and Good; Esther hastes Ricky; Ricky calls Perry, Marty and the Unicorn; Cody and Ricky ride the moped; Dale joins; Kingston puts the egg and artifacts down in the nest — 01:56:40–02:15:58.
- 02:16:05 Round 2: Sofia fights wraith-like spirits and drones from the dark; Pete sends one spirit away; Cody, Ricky and Dale destroy another; a third arrives; Pete prepares a Heightened Banishment; Null appears in the center of the burlesque and the episode ends — 02:16:05–02:30:22.
