The Last Wish
What happens
- 00:01:41 Brennan's recap (recap): the party fought "itty bitty little giant slayers" at the bottom of a beanstalk; they took a Golden Harp, a golden egg and the Golden Goose, "the opposite and reflection of The Gander"; Alphonse was blown up by a cricket's rocket, which undid his curse, and he is a prince again; the party is back on a cloud at the top of the beanstalk with Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, Tomas with his brothers Marco and Ricard, and the sleeping Henry Hubbard; Brennan says the book "is a true book" (00:01:41, 00:02:50, 00:03:05).
- 00:03:45 Reunions on the cloud: Tomas greets Pib; the brothers say they remember armies of Snowhold led by Koschei the Deathless coming to Marienne, and Tomas says they came to Snowhold because the Snow Queen had giants at her command (00:04:03, 00:04:49, 00:05:04).
- 00:05:21 Henry wakes in Mother Goose's arms; the two compare their deaths (Henry was hit by a wagon), Ylfa is greeted by Henry, and Henry tells his tale: Shoeburg, Hapley in the kingdom of Jubilee, Jack, and a mule in Marienne (00:05:50, 00:06:46, 00:12:03, 00:14:12, 00:15:03).
- 00:07:30 The Golden Goose says the world "has had some editing done to it"; the party sees seams (cutbacks), Ylfa senses a being manipulating stories without the ink; the Goose says a portion of a story was added with a version of Jack that coincided with her, by a powerful being now in The Lines Between whom the party has met, "perhaps the Boy of Destiny most of all" (Pinocchio: "You betcha."), and that she was put here to fix the Gander's attention on this world (00:07:33, 00:08:35, 00:10:31, 00:11:20, 00:17:17).
- 00:18:21 Talk of the lost book, the Stepmother, the Gander, the Wolf, the Baba Yaga and the princesses' plan; Mother Goose tells the Goose "We found the Wolf, actually, in this world."; Brennan rolls something the players dread ("That's a three") (00:19:02, 00:19:59, 00:20:02, 00:22:43).
- 00:22:53 The harp: its powers; Pinocchio plays it (17) and the Goose snores; Rosamund's backwards "Smoke on the Water" (dirty 20) wakes her (00:23:01, 00:23:32, 00:25:33).
- 00:24:03 Tom Thumb asks about the lost book; the Goose says she could retrieve it and also save Mother Goose from the third wish, but she will not yet say how; if she strays much farther from the top of the beanstalk, she and the Gander must meet (00:26:00, 00:27:31, 00:27:52).
- 00:29:22 Pib's Insight (12) on the Goose; she calls for rest, asks the sun for it, her cloud-beds appear and night falls (00:30:11, 00:30:28, 00:31:43).
- 00:33:10 Mother Goose's Insight is a nat one (Luck, 21); as he sleeps he hears footsteps and a voice cry "Dad!"; Pib hears the brothers marvel that Alphonse was a prince "the whole time" and sees cutbacks appear around the harp as one of them says "giants" (00:33:25, 00:34:00, 00:35:29, 00:35:49).
- 00:36:31 Rosamund sets a Snare at the entrance; she tells the Goose she likes writing only what has already happened to her (00:36:37, 00:37:35).
- 00:39:51 Ylfa falls asleep in the Goose's bonnet; the Goose gives her a blanket-sized feather; the two talk about Ylfa's late grandmother, death, endings and letting go (00:41:15, 00:44:01, 00:47:34, 00:49:36, 00:52:15).
- 00:52:19 Pinocchio and Cricket: Cricket says he is dying, is forced to drink, then talks of the Stepmother, running away, and apologises on behalf of Pinocchio's father and the Fairy with Turquoise Hair (00:52:33, 00:53:50, 00:57:10, 01:01:35).
- 01:03:34 Gerard, drinking, confides in Tom Thumb about his marriage; they plan a 5 AM workout, and Tom wakes him 45 minutes after he falls asleep (01:04:50, 01:07:44, 01:09:46).
- 01:10:15 Morning: the Goose casts Heroes' Feast; Tom tells Gerard off at breakfast; the party leaves for the Castle of the North Wind (01:11:18, 01:12:48, 01:13:40).
- 01:13:52 On the way Pib gives Pinocchio a favor (a ball bearing as token); the party asks the Goose for her plan: not yet the Gander; first the book, then the Baba Yaga's hut, whose Wolf Ylfa can track by heartbeat; the Goose gives Mother Goose a speech about changing the world and names what the Baba Yaga respects (01:14:12, 01:16:25, 01:17:22, 01:19:03, 01:20:57).
- 01:21:09 The cutbacks fade at the edge of the clouds; Pib's Perception (15) hears "Fee… Fi… Fo… Fum…" (01:21:53, 01:21:56).
- 01:21:56 At the Castle of the North Wind the sky darkens; the Gander appears; the Goose makes Mother Goose's third wish ("I'd very much like my book back"), the Gander grants it and tears the Goose apart; the book falls; the Goose tells the party to run (01:23:14, 01:24:26, 01:25:18, 01:25:28, 01:26:32).
- 01:26:36 The party rides off on horses with Clara; Mother Goose writes in the book with the Goose's feather, Arcana check; "Goose" and "Gander" stick ("Goose" illuminated, "Gander" still in his handwriting) and the illustration changes: King Cole, Little Miss Muffet and the Itsy Bitsy Spider join Jack, King Cole has a hand on a sword, Jack runs with a banner showing a witch with a broomstick on a goose, and their expressions are concerned (01:26:39, 01:27:28, 01:30:13, 01:30:57, 01:31:25).
- 01:31:38 Correspondence in the book between Scheherazade and Snow White; Mother Goose writes to Scheherazade (DM's roll 16) and gets no answer after naming where he is (01:31:48, 01:33:40, 01:34:18).
- 01:35:17 Legend Lore on the book shows it can put people inside it and bring them out; Brennan adds that "the Gander's wings are still surrounding this world"; Marco, Ricard and Tomas are put in the book for safety; Insight with advantage (25) on the factions: the Turquoise Fairy once said she did not agree with everything the other fairies have done, and the Stepmother "was once a human woman" (01:35:23, 01:38:54, 01:39:04, 01:40:18, 01:40:25, 01:41:29).
- 01:42:52 Henry and Mother Goose mourn the Goose; Henry says the princesses have moved to The Lines Between; Ylfa tracks her quarry, which Emily and Brennan call Death, by prints of a massive wolf through the forest of Snowhold to the Baba Yaga's hut on chicken legs (01:43:06, 01:43:28, 01:43:39, 01:46:17).
- 01:46:17 Preparations: Ylfa turns werewolf as an act of honesty, weapons are put aside, Pinocchio empties bubblegum from his leg; Pib leads, Persuasion with help from all, a nat 20 (01:46:56, 01:48:03, 01:50:45, 01:53:07).
- 01:54:03 The door opens onto cobweb and shadow; Pinocchio makes his plea; claws sink into his neck and the Baba Yaga leans down from a giant stone pestle: "What's this you carry with you?" (01:54:31, 01:55:20, 01:55:49).
- 01:55:55 End of game; next-time preview from 01:56:05 (not lore of this episode).
