Itsy Bitsy Spider

Pib finds a tiny, bedraggled spider in an acorn shell, holding a toothpick and trying to row itself out of a puddle at the corner of the tavern NA E5·00:47:21. A card names him the Itsy Bitsy Spider (he/him), "Committed Arachnid", from Tales of Old Mother Goose NA E5·00:47:37. He says Pib does not have to give a hand: "I got myself into this mess, I should get myself out." NA E5·00:47:54 Pib shoves him to shore, and the spider points at a gutter pouring rain into the puddle NA E5·00:48:23 NA E5·00:48:51.

In the fifth episode Pib climbs the corner of the roof with him, and the spider recognizes Pib's spider silk ring as a way to find any spider NA E5·00:49:44 NA E5·00:50:22. He tells Pib that other spiders spoke of a spider queen gathering forces around a giant web deeper in the Lullaby Lands, that some say the bad weather comes from a spell she is cooking up, and that he does not want anything to do with her NA E5·00:51:09 NA E5·00:52:47. He gives directions to a signpost pointing to the hill where the web is, and says "You gotta keep your hopes up." NA E5·00:53:01 NA E5·00:54:20

In the seventh episode Pib meets him again dragging his acorn shell, and he rides out ahead of the party to Tuffeton NA E7·00:14:17 NA E7·00:14:52. In Tuffeton he tells Timothy "Life is good", and Timothy offers to preserve him in a sunshine story in his book NA E7·00:17:39 NA E7·00:17:48. The spider tells his story, asks whether it will be only sunshine, and says that when it rains he never gets down NA E7·00:19:26 NA E7·00:19:49 NA E7·00:20:51. When he says he is not much help since he is very small, maybe more help as a story, Timothy takes the offer back and gives him a pep talk, and the spider asks if he may travel along NA E7·00:21:35 NA E7·00:21:59 NA E7·00:22:22. He apologizes when Little Miss Muffet screams at the sight of him, and Timothy puts a sugar cube in his pocket for him NA E7·00:28:02 NA E7·00:28:06 NA E7·00:28:19 NA E7·00:28:25.

Brennan lists the Itsy Bitsy Spider among the helpers who arrive in The Lines Between with the party, and says Mother Goose's book of nursery rhymes has Muffet and the Itsy Bitsy Spider in it NA E8·00:04:45 NA E9·00:12:40. In the seventeenth episode the book's illustration shows Little Miss Muffet helping the Itsy Bitsy Spider up a rain cloud, with expressions that now look concerned NA E17·01:30:35 NA E17·01:30:57.
