Order of the Spinning Star

Cumulous says he was part of the Order of the Spinning Star, which Archmage Lazuli created to protect the magical secrets of Candia CC E8·02:17:23. Brennan says Theobald remembers that Lazuli never talked about the Order CC E8·02:18:33.

The Order of the Spinning Star is an arcane order of monks created by Archmage Lazuli to protect Candia's magical secrets, and Cumulous belongs to it CC E8·02:17:23. Brennan says Theobald knew only that there were references to weird things and was not sure where the Order drew its magic from CC E8·02:19:34. Cumulous says it was created as a reaction to the Bulbian Church, whose power he says comes from other people not having magic CC E9·00:48:45 CC E9·00:49:16. Brennan says that when the Order was at full strength, Lazuli's teleportation circles all over Candia let the monks travel in secret, but the circles are now dangerous because no one is left who knows how to fix them, and when one breaks it destabilizes the others CC E9·00:11:56. Cumulous says there are far fewer of them now CC E9·00:11:42. Brennan describes the Order's work as maintenance, trying to prevent the loss of anything more CC E11·01:34:07.

At the end of CC_11 the party goes from Saccharina's caverns to the Order's monastery, and Snickersnack greets Cumulous CC E11·02:25:32 CC E11·02:26:43. In CC_13 Brennan describes the monastery as sitting on a peak of white sugar rock in the Great Stone Candy Mountains, which has runes, libraries, halls of artifacts and an old private laboratory of Lazuli CC E13·00:21:23. Cumulous officially pledges the Order to Saccharina CC E13·01:01:57. He tells her the monks have been lost without Lazuli and feel she is the rightful heir to the place CC E13·01:02:09. She pledges to return the magic of Lazuli and the Lost Sucrosi to the land, and about five dozen remaining monks balance on their staffs and bow CC E13·01:02:17 CC E13·01:02:37.

With Saccharina's marauders, the Order helps Jawbreaker retake Castle Manylicks CC E15·01:02:56. Brennan tells Cumulous that his Order is fully empowered again and that it starts getting the teleportation grids back online CC E15·01:27:46. In the final battle, half the soldiers in the marauder group teleport and Misty Step into the Meat Landers while the Order of the Spinning Star goes to work on them CC E16·01:43:59. In Brennan's epilogue the Order's ranks swell as new magics are discovered CC E17·02:14:33.
