Leiland remembers Avanash, a caged elf smith at Karradkar, and the group travels there through Lilith's webs, finds Avanash in an oubliette, and brings him back to the forge, where he reforges the crown, only to say afterwards that he gave it to Hamhead. While the group searches for her in vain, Olag rouses the army to storm the Bloodkeep and punish the council he calls traitors, and the Vinguri sense that something treacherous has happened to Declan.
