John Feathers
John Feathers is a big talking eagle who has been flying for the group; when Markus asks his name, he answers John Feathers BK E3·00:05:31 BK E3·00:06:01. He says the men of Tyriath call him Bahir of the Fast Wind, and that people close to him call him JJ because his father is John Feathers Senior BK E3·00:06:24 BK E3·00:07:02. He says his debt is paid now that the battle is done, but that they can work something else out BK E3·00:07:17. What he wants is a gold nest and to wear clothes like people do BK E3·00:08:36. He points out that eagles have a full language, and argues that they belong in the free world BK E3·00:09:32.
In the volcano battle a talking giant eagle that Markus grabs bargains with him, saying "I want a gold nest." BK E2·01:23:20 BK E2·01:22:21. After the fight the eagle says he and Markus have to talk about percentages BK E2·02:10:37. Next episode this big eagle, whose name nobody has asked, is named John Feathers, and he says his debt is paid and asks again for a gold nest and clothes BK E3·00:04:01 BK E3·00:06:01 BK E3·00:07:17 BK E3·00:08:36. When he complains that a moth sent him to fetch Kasara from a tower, he insists that he has a contract with Markus BK E3·01:47:32.
On the airship he is wearing clothes, and another eagle asks him what in the hell he is wearing BK E4·00:19:22. John answers that his people wear whatever they want, and he is later badly injured in the fight BK E4·00:19:26 BK E4·01:00:16. In the aftermath, Maggie asks him to be her true love, he tells her he is a giant bird in a suit and urges her to breathe, mentions his girlfriend Samantha Eagles, and rolls a death saving throw BK E5·00:37:29 BK E5·00:38:23 BK E5·00:38:32. Brennan says he stabilizes at zero, and John says that Uncle John is not a bad call BK E5·00:40:16 BK E5·00:40:22. He decides to stay behind, saying that staying at high altitude for a while will be good for him BK E5·01:04:33.
At the end he returns in a jet black suit with a hat that Brennan says was made from Olag's skin, and he tells Markus that he looks sharp BK E6·02:47:10 BK E6·02:47:23. He asks Markus whether he needs a ride, puts on sunglasses, and Markus leaves on his back BK E6·02:48:24 BK E6·02:48:27 BK E6·02:48:41.
