Crystal palimpsest

A crystal palimpsest is the crystal the party grabbed just before stealing Johnny Spells' hot rod, with a young girl inside pressing her hands against it E4·00:00:31. Adaine holds it as the episode opens E4·00:01:43. Her Identify spell explains that "the palimpsest is a form of dream crystal" E4·00:06:59. It is used for storing information, made by scraping away a crystal's divinatory elements so it is removed from the oversight of the Council of Chosen E4·00:07:07.

The party finds that the cracks in the palimpsest are what keep a soul trapped inside it E5·00:09:20. In the A.V. Club darkroom Biz Glitterdew powers it up and a spectral form of Sam Nightingale appears deep within it E5·00:42:43. Later Biz says a masked attacker took the palimpsest from him E9·01:08:52.

Palimpsests turn up repeatedly afterwards: Coach Daybreak shatters one from his sweatpants pocket to summon an owlbear E10·00:48:35E10·00:48:47, and Aelwyn Abernant sucks Ostentatia Wallace into another E11·01:48:21. Adaine takes that palimpsest out of Aelwyn's pocket E12·01:56:29. At the Elm Valley Mall arcade Ostentatia is downloaded out of it E14·00:58:07, and Biz says the palimpsest "is for storing them, beyond divination" E14·01:34:57. Later teachers are sucked into crystal palimpsests disguised as cameras E15·01:18:50.
