Waylaid by Werewolves
What happens
- 00:00:44 Welcome; recap: the party was hurtling through the werewolf-infested forest under a silvery moon; branches thwack the carriage; a second howl answers from the left; initiative is rolled — 00:00:51–00:02:21.
- 00:02:43 Top of the first round: female werewolves (minis) appear in the trees; a large braided werewolf leaps in front of the moving carriage, hits a horse (it dissolves into mist, "Leaving you with three"), disengages; the carriage moves 10 feet at the end of each round; Drago's "hump" is gone, he has finished setting up a ballista for one of the party to use; a second werewolf lands behind Drago and misses — 00:02:57–00:04:44.
- 00:04:55 May's round: the carriage moves 10 feet; a branch hits Squing (Dex save 12, 11 bludgeoning, Strength save 12 to stay aboard); Zarb is placed and ducks the branch (14); a twig stays in Squing's head — 00:05:02–00:07:38.
- 00:07:58 May hears the damaged wheel spoke; her Insight (5) shows the werewolves cannot be reasoned with; Thaumaturgy (Arcana, "dirty 20") slams the wheel back into shape; she whistles up her Pomeranian Fifi (dire wolf stats) — 00:08:28–00:12:00.
- 00:12:09 Aleksandr points his flame thrower at the skirted werewolf (Dex save fail, 11 damage) and follows with Acid Splash (7), 18 in all — 00:12:13–00:13:48.
- 00:14:18 Werewolves three and four go for the back door; one falls off to a branch; a nat 20 attack, May's Silvery Barbs forces a reroll, still 19; the back of the carriage is damaged and the coffin is exposed; a held-action grab at Squing misses — 00:14:21–00:17:26.
- 00:17:34 Squing's turn: Form of Dread; he takes the ballista (Drago's late wife is mentioned); a Pact of the Talisman hit for 10 damage on werewolf three; Zarb attacks the burning werewolf (bite 19 for 2 damage, claw 8 to hit); Squing gets 15 temp HP — 00:17:42–00:24:06.
- 00:24:06 Wetzel extends his metal arm; the players agree Aleksandr built the arm and the GM goes along ("Then you definitely built my arm." 00:25:18); a hidden sneak attack hits werewolf three for 22 (the master sneezes in the coffin) — 00:24:26–00:28:21.
- 00:28:32 Round two: Fifi's nat 20 bite does 12; werewolf two leaps into the back and drags the coffin out of the carriage; werewolf four fails to pry the lid; Drago, frozen, is told to reload; a branch drops Drago and misses Zarb — 00:28:32–00:33:24.
- 00:33:26 May hops down and uses Cackle: three werewolves fail their Con saves, take 14 psychic damage and are slowed; the coffin is dropped; Fifi bites for 10; May cannot drag the coffin (Athletics 4) — 00:33:51–00:37:41.
- 00:37:41 Drago reloads the ballista; Aleksandr shouts "Stop the carriage!" (Animal Handling 9, fails) and the shadow-beasts rage; his flame thrower hits two; a blood-grenade question and the temp HP cap on Dracula; Acid Splash — 00:38:07–00:45:37.
- 00:45:39 Werewolf three mauls Fifi (28 damage); Fifi's Con save (5) fails and she begins to turn into a werewolf — 00:45:39–00:48:31.
- 00:48:31 Squing dashes, drags the coffin back (Athletics 15), has Zarb fire the ballista (miss, into a tree); a letter from Dracula flaps from the coffin and Squing reads it — 00:48:34–00:54:39.
- 00:54:43 Wetzel throws Florina onto the roof to help reload; Drago's bolt (16 damage) kills werewolf two — 00:54:49–00:56:49.
- 00:56:57 Werewolf one hits May; May bites it on an opportunity attack and gains 3 werewolf blood points; another werewolf attacks Wetzel; Wetzel spits and fails a Wisdom save and unlocks Enraged Frenzy — 00:57:07–01:02:51.
- 01:03:24 May's scream: werewolf four rolls a natural 1, takes double damage and dies; Fifi turns into a husky-like wolf — 01:04:14–01:06:47.
- 01:07:03 Aleksandr's flame thrower and unstable X-ray hit werewolf one (poisoned); Squing leaps out, bites a werewolf (frightened, 3 werewolf blood points) and returns; Wetzel runs past it — 01:07:27–01:13:56.
- 01:13:56 The carriage bursts out of the forest into a canyon below Castle Dracula; a train blows its horn on the tracks — 01:13:56–01:15:28.
- 01:15:33 Werewolf one clings to the carriage and claws at Squing (8 slashing); May Shadow Steps onto the train, unhooks the coal cart (Strength save 9, rerolled 13) and Fifi is gone — 01:15:35–01:22:19.
- 01:22:36 Aleksandr's plan to fly the horses; flight elixirs; Squing offers to eat Florina; Aleksandr takes Florina on a flying horse; his Insight 19 on a werewolf: it is his wife — 01:22:36–01:32:29.
- 01:32:58 A horse hits the train and dissolves; Squing flies out carrying the half-open coffin's body and reabsorbs Zarb; Drago is told "be with your wife"; the carriage is dragged against the train; Wetzel (Strength save 19) drinks a flight potion and flies away with Drago — 01:32:58–01:39:07.
- 01:38:58 The carriage is ripped off the drive into the gully; the party exits initiative with Dracula saved — 01:38:58–01:39:32.
- 01:39:37 Quiet on the bridge: Marina, naked, her fur shed and her lycanthropy subsided, comes down from a train compartment and reunites with Aleksandr; Florina calls her Grandmother — 01:39:37–01:42:55.
- 01:43:03 Squing reads Dracula the part of his letter meant for him; Dracula tells him to get him to the ancestral soil — 01:43:03–01:44:55.
- 01:45:02 Closing: the party starts across the bridge to Castle Dracula; a shadow lurks on the engine compartment watching — 01:45:02–01:45:49.
- 01:45:53 Next-episode preview — 01:45:53–01:46:54.
