In the first episode Brennan says Crown and Scepter, founded by the family of the original dread dictator of the Incorporated Elysian Republic, is the parent company of United Free Trade Planets SOE1·01:17:52. This comes when Margaret reads that Lucienne has been promoted to its Open Executive Suite SOE1·01:17:23.

Crown and Scepter is the parent company of United Free Trade Planets, founded with the imperial earnings of the family of the old dread dictator SOE1·01:17:52 SOE3·00:02:04. Lucienne works there, and Margaret says Lucienne married into the Scepter family SOE2·00:46:12. Lucienne asks Margaret, "Which of us is at Crown and Scepter, you or me?" SOE2·00:51:02.

Brennan describes it as the top of the UFTP pyramid, while Griivarr is the top of its own pyramid SOE6·01:19:26 SOE6·01:19:34. Gnosis notes that Crown and Scepter Limited is uninterested in him SOE12·00:52:37. King Prilbus says UFTP "is not a front for Crown and Scepter", but belongs to the cerebro-slug houses SOE15·00:43:50. Lucienne says she wondered whether the cerebro-slugs had reached Crown and Scepter SOE15·01:07:50.
