Caramelinda says that 20 years ago the Imperator of Ceresia, Imperator Focaccia, was defeated outside the city of Pangranos by an army of the emperor's Fructeran nobility, Amethar's father, most of Candia's armies and their allies CC E1·01:27:49. Sir Toby says Commander Constano Grissini should be waiting with a troupe of imperial Ceresian infantry to escort the party to the capital city CC E1·01:54:52.

In CC_01 Caramelinda recalls that the Imperator of Ceresia, Imperator Focaccia, was defeated outside Pangranos 20 years earlier, and Sir Toby expects imperial Ceresian infantry to escort the envoy CC E1·01:27:49 CC E1·01:54:52. In CC_02 a small squadron of Ceresian infantry led by a centurion arrives to help the king in the ambush, wearing the crest of the Imperial army CC E2·01:32:07 CC E2·01:44:10. In a CC_07 war flashback Rococoa says the Ceresians are pouring through Gumdrop Pass, and later Imperial Vegetanian and Ceresian soldiers board the party's ship CC E7·00:13:14 CC E7·01:12:16.

In CC_13 Brennan says the Imperial forces in Candia are like peacekeepers, adding that the empire did not invade Candia and that what is happening is that Ceresia was taken over by Ciabatta CC E13·00:37:20. He says Ceresia is invading Candia, which has no alliances, so that Ciabatta can be Imperator by taking over the military CC E13·00:37:20. An intercepted letter offers Cruller a future as governor of Candia as a province of Ceresia CC E13·00:42:30.

In CC_17 the last Ceresian force musters with Imperator Ciabatta, and a Ceresian unit dies as Grissini falls CC E17·00:53:21 CC E17·01:33:09. Ciabatta is left standing alone shouting "Ceresia, Ceresia, to me!" CC E17·01:40:17. In the epilogue Brennan says the Senate of Ceresia, newly formed after a brief dip into fascism, sends a formal envoy to thank the party for dispatching Imperator Ciabatta CC E17·02:12:53.
