In the third episode Brennan says the old captain's paperwork includes unhinged correspondence refusing to join proldiers' unions, naming U4F, and that his hostility toward the U4F is part of why the crew has not been getting jobs SOE3·00:11:19. Brennan says U4F is the United Federation of Female Freedom Fighters, founded by Nia Once, Molly Medea and Leilani Qa'Kuraya in cycle 1AE SOE3·00:28:02. He describes it as a protection for the women revolutionaries who helped overthrow the Incorporated Elysian Republic and one of the most well-funded proldier unions in the galaxy, with hefty dues SOE3·00:28:02. Brennan adds that joining would bring healthcare and pension plans for the crew, and Margaret says she has the paperwork ready except for the ship's name SOE3·00:28:02 SOE3·00:40:24.

U4F is the union of women revolutionaries that Brennan describes in the third episode SOE3·00:28:02. In the sixth episode Margaret says she will probably enter the crew into it SOE6·01:00:54. In the seventh episode she gets a reply scheduling a meeting with the U4F union rep, Ife Amari-Reyes SOE7·01:00:04. In the twelfth episode Ife says U4F was founded 220 cycles ago by the heroes of the rebellion and the overthrow of the Incorporated Elysian Republic, and that it recognizes over 3,000 genders and over 450 biological sexes SOE12·01:55:35 SOE12·01:57:38. Brennan says its distress policy gives a ship a comms channel to alert other U4F airships SOE12·02:06:12.

Brennan's recap says Ife would process the crew's union membership if they also agreed to look after facilities for a group of Galactic Girl Guides, and that Jan de la Vega is a fellow union member SOE13·00:01:29. In the fourteenth episode Brennan says a U4F badge hangs under the ship's window, so anyone who fights the crew fights the union SOE14·01:55:50. A recap in the fifteenth episode calls the crew a union ship that can now take union contracts SOE15·00:04:40. In the seventeenth episode Brennan says the crew's union ships arrive and U4F ships open fire on the fighter craft around the Wurst at Jan's call SOE17·00:36:48 SOE17·00:37:05. In the last battle Brennan says two U4F ships, one of them the Harpy, meet the Brigade Tigers, and the Harpy blasts four of them out of the sky SOE18·00:03:29 SOE18·00:04:23. Later all four U4F vessels open fire on Gust Weatherall's command ship SOE18·01:11:35.
