Esther tells Ricky that Santa Claus clones himself millions of times and that not every clone turns out great UC E1·01:05:41 UC E1·01:06:33. When Ricky intimidates them, one explodes into peppermint and the other two run into the street UC E1·01:11:49.

They turn out to be dangerous: a bite gives a peppermint disease, and Ana and Amelia, hurt in a patrol, say "they're not like normal. They're really dangerous" UC E1·02:04:48 UC E1·01:10:57. At Times Square a swarm of them surrounds an enormous icy chrysalis UC E1·02:08:13.
In the Times Square fight Brennan describes mutated Santa clones, some with insectoid carapaces and some with tentacles instead of arms UC E2·00:02:40. One leaps onto a roof with a burst of plasm and shoots a burning hot chunk of coal into Pete's face UC E2·00:06:45 UC E2·00:08:27. Santa says most clones turn out fine but the defective ones are brought here, and that these acted up and are not usually this harmful UC E2·01:09:58.
