In the seventh episode Brennan says criminals coming into Swallop's are there to get on the good side of Sheriff Warner Codge SOE7·01:02:37. He says Warner's crew of deputies have done their best to cobble uniforms together, and that they are wearing stuff to look as close as they can to Amercadian brigaders, but they are not brigaders SOE7·01:03:38.

In the seventh episode Brennan places Sheriff Warner Codge and his deputies at a big corner booth in Swallop's, with the sheriff's badge on the table in front of him SOE7·01:01:22. He says the deputies wear imitation Amercadian uniforms SOE7·01:03:38. Loose Duke tells the crew that Sheriff Codge cannot come out where they are because it is outside his jurisdiction and the Directorate would nab him, and names it the Lone Star Directorate SOE7·01:54:53 SOE7·01:55:04. When the crew visits the sheriff in daylight, Brennan says the deputies' weapons are not standard issue but souped-up heavy blasters, many with grenades, and that a dozen or more deputies are visible SOE7·02:07:38 SOE7·02:10:27.

In the eighth episode Brennan says combat breaks out at Swallop's SOE8·00:02:36. Barry's shots hit both of the sheriff's lieutenants, who wear Amercadian colors but not actual uniforms SOE8·00:18:07. He says Sheriff Warner Codge is dead SOE8·01:03:08. While the crew sneaks away, Brennan says a Sheriff's department cruiser zips past with no lights on, followed by two more cruisers going out of town, and Sidney says "They're fleeing town" SOE8·01:17:53 SOE8·01:19:15.
