Lawrence Longfoot

Lawrence Longfoot is a hare and a newspaper magnate who attends the party at Loam Hall MM E1·01:35:55. He says that, working with Mr. Cross and Scotland Yard, though the case may be closed, "our hearts never are" MM E1·01:36:05. He announces that the Brockhollow Estate will give more than 150,000 pounds to the Anglican Church, specifically to Our Lady of Prayerful Paws MM E1·01:36:05.

Lawrence Longfoot is the persona of Fletcher Cottonbottom, Sylvester Cross's arch-nemesis, revealed in MM_10 MM E10·01:32:37 MM E10·01:36:49. Until then he is a hare and newspaper magnate at the party MM E1·01:35:55. At the first party he announces the Brockhollow Estate's gift of more than 150,000 pounds to the Anglican Church MM E1·01:36:05. In MM_02 Brennan says that, like Buckster, he is not a lord: he is a newspaper magnate who "publishes trash and got really rich doing it" MM E2·00:52:38. He takes a photograph of Sylvester and Buckster with his camera, saying "We got something planned just for you" MM E2·00:54:18 MM E2·00:53:54. In MM_03 he keeps taking flash photographs, saying he will "take photos for the paper" MM E3·01:19:44 MM E3·01:06:04.

In MM_10 he is one of three guests found beaten in the tower, with Simon Shellcrest and Lord Eoighan MacCrae MM E10·00:19:53. Waking, he first says "I ain't done nothing" MM E10·00:22:15. He then asks Daisy whether she is working with the police MM E10·00:22:26. He then follows Daisy upstairs, furiously scribbling in a notepad MM E10·00:24:46. Daisy kills Fletcher Cottonbottom by blasting him into the lightning rod as the lightning strikes MM E10·02:11:45. Shellcrest later says the constables looked to Mr. Longfoot, who told them "knock them out here, for plausible deniability" MM E10·02:35:53. Edwina and Carolyn say a Mr. Longfoot in the library offered to return Buckster's knife MM E10·02:35:12.

At the top of the tower Sylvester says the broken camera is the nail in the coffin of Fletcher Cottonbottom, and as Longfoot's paw leaves the window the rain melts the makeup on it MM E10·01:32:37 MM E10·01:32:48. Fletcher Cottonbottom then says "My dear Mr. Cross, at long last we meet again" and shoves Sylvester out of the window MM E10·01:33:21 MM E10·01:33:29. Brennan says the flash that triggered Mrs. Molesly's fit in the study was that of the camera itself MM E10·01:36:31. Brennan also says Longfoot's head injuries came when Lars clocked the masked figure in the elevator fight, letting Cottonbottom hide in plain sight MM E10·02:36:17.
