Brennan says Gangie probably should not go back to his groundskeeper's cottage yet, since he is meant to meet Mr. Harding after dinner MM E2·01:45:30.

Gangie's cottage turns out to be the other end of the secret passage that Sylvester Cross opens by pushing a stone brick, and Brennan says it bypasses the need for the elevator MM E9·01:55:37. Brennan tells Lars that nothing in the cottage suggests Gangie ever used the passage MM E9·02:01:53. Sylvester stays hidden in the cottage because he is the biggest liability, while his friends go out MM E9·02:07:50.

In MM_10 Brennan tells Vicar Ian that through the window of Gangie's cottage he saw the constables dragging Mrs. Molesly upstairs MM E10·00:17:15. Later Gangie runs back down the spiral staircase that now lives in his cottage to the ritual room, takes the elevator back up with the key, and Brennan says the elevator can stop at the secret wing, the kitchen and the top floor MM E10·00:56:36.
