Arianwen Abernant

Arianwen Abernant is Adaine's mother, seen at breakfast in the Abernant home in Clearbrook with Angwyn, Aelwyn and Adaine E1·00:23:09. When the sisters fight with spells, she asks Adaine why she and her sister cannot simply get along and says she is busy with a curriculum E1·00:26:47 E1·00:26:56. She lets Aelwyn take the car and suggests Adaine use divination to see where the bus to Aguefort will come E1·00:27:57 E1·00:28:08.

After the cafeteria killings she comes to collect Adaine and tells her that her father does not want to step out of the car and be seen there E3·00:41:54 E3·00:42:03. When the party comes to the Abernant home about Aelwyn, she insists Aelwyn would never sneak out E11·01:30:53. Later, after Angwyn threatens Adaine and Adaine turns invisible, Arianwen stays behind, says Angwyn was never good at recognizing spells, and tells her, "I believe you, and I'm very sorry." Arianwen Abernant is Adaine and Aelwyn's mother, an elf who is a professor at Hudol, whom the story first shows at breakfast with her family in Clearbrook E1·00:23:09. In season 1 she is a distant, busy parent who stays behind and tells Adaine "I believe you, and I'm very sorry" after Angwyn threatens her E13·00:19:16.

In season 2 Adaine's mother becomes a hidden figure behind the Nightmare King plot. Ragh describes an unnamed elven woman with glasses who looks like Adaine, and Adaine says it is for sure her mom S2E4·00:52:13 S2E4·00:58:05. She is said to have fled to these shores, and Kalina tells Aelwyn that her mother is working for her S2E9·00:22:13 S2E11·00:42:12. Her research notes underlie many of the party's findings, and she planned to betray the elven government S2E11·01:22:35 S2E11·02:10:16. Adaine's sensor shows her in a deep elven travelling cloak with nasty scars, a woman who had a room at the Owl and Harp, and her room holds non-detection runes S2E12·01:53:17 S2E12·01:32:38 S2E12·02:22:51 S2E13·00:29:08. She has a curse wound on her neck and hands and no crown on her S2E18·02:16:45. She says "We are going to bring the Nightmare King back." S2E18·02:20:21

In the finale she is off doing the ritual while Killian and others walk away from the clearing, and she appears in the fight with her frame card S2E19·01:09:05 S2E19·02:32:33 S2E20·01:39:38. She counterspells Fig's Fear, pulls the crown from a seam in space, casts Power Word Pain on Adaine S2E20·01:40:53 S2E20·01:43:44 S2E20·02:24:01. She tells her children, "You will pay, you will both pay, children." S2E20·02:25:39. She casts Ice Storm and finally loses her magic S2E20·03:01:20 S2E20·04:08:21.
