Anne tells Markus there is word that Tavian has sworn alliance with Tyriath, together with Kasara the Beige, Telmeir the Calm and the Ranger of the North, and will be fighting at the Door of Doom BK E1·01:00:37. Markus is angry and says he will look at this as a chance for revenge BK E1·01:01:00 BK E1·01:01:20.

Prince Tavian St. Vincent is Markus's brother and the Prince of Kaelstoop BK E3·02:05:40 BK E4·00:10:52. He is first reported to have sworn alliance with Tyriath and the forces of light BK E1·01:00:37. Eagles carry him, a dwarf and a tree-being toward Markus's ship, and he lands on the deck greeting his "Little brother" BK E3·02:05:16 BK E3·02:05:40 BK E3·02:05:45.

In the airship battle he tells Markus to come home because it is over, calls him the most stubborn, stupid little brother there has ever been, and objects that he sided with a guy called the Lord of Shadows BK E4·00:11:07 BK E4·00:22:42. He says Kaelstoop will be under a new rule when he is done with Markus, and that he is a mercenary BK E4·00:23:03. He mocks John Feathers as a bird with clothes on, and later offers the fighting crew pay if they join his cause BK E4·00:26:25 BK E4·01:12:04. Bad Henry harpoons him in the side, and Tavian plunges his scimitar through Bad Henry's heart BK E4·00:39:45 BK E4·01:41:28. J'er'em'ih chokes the life out of him, and Brennan says Tavian is no more BK E4·01:59:14 BK E4·01:59:36. Markus later says that with Tavian dead he is the rightful heir to Kaelstoop BK E5·00:46:06.
