In the first episode Jan de la Vega asks "Ain't that right, Needles?" SOE1·00:09:38. The on-screen art shows a man with skin like an orange lizard, spiky protrusions on his head like horns, futuristic armor, a tyrannosaur-like tail and bare feet with three talons each, and calls him Jan's right hand lizard man SOE1·00:09:38. Brennan says a second comm screen opens on a Kranchian gunner SOE1·00:09:52. In a high-pitched, cackling voice he says "That's right boss, let's open fire!" SOE1·00:09:58.

In the first episode Needles is Jan de la Vega's Kranchian gunner, who cackles "That's right boss, let's open fire!" over the comm SOE1·00:09:58. In the second episode, after Jan says nobody makes a fool of her, he cackles "I'm gonna murder all youse guys!" SOE2·01:53:43.

In the fifth episode Brennan says Needles steps forward to open fire on Gunnie SOE5·01:38:22. A grenade goes off and Needles goes fully stunned while Jan stays up, and later Brennan says he is unconscious SOE5·01:42:59 SOE5·01:59:58. In the seventeenth episode, with the Lady Pike among the ships answering Margaret's signal, Jan tells him "Needles, you know what to do" SOE17·00:40:28. He cackles "Yeah Boss! That Repo-Reaper vessel is gone" SOE17·00:40:32.
