The Blackwood Forest

In the first episode Brennan says the party travels through the Blackwood, one of many primeval forests of the Neverafter, a long stretch of wilderness between Shoeberg and Pottingham NA E1·01:10:34. The caravan circles its wagons at a turn of the road with doors and planks leaned against the gaps facing the forest NA E1·01:10:34. Boffit says the enchanted logs and a storyteller's tale are enough to ward off any boggins or boggarts NA E1·01:07:57. When Rosamund goes out into the forest to call for help gathering nuts and berries, an enormous, scaly, unfeathered ostrich comes out of the ferns NA E1·02:02:02 NA E1·02:02:27.

In the second episode Brennan says that for most of the party the dark woods are a death sentence, and that Rosamund guides them over hidden paths, deer trails and clear brooks NA E2·01:45:04. They emerge from the thick primeval forest at a ridge overlooking a hamlet NA E2·01:46:46. Brennan says that in the Blackwood it is very hard to tell night from day NA E2·01:47:55.
