The Heart of the World
What happens
- 00:00:44 Matt welcomes viewers; the players tease Lou about eraser crumbs on his lips; Matt: "That, to me, sounds like you're ready." — 00:01:33
- 00:01:42 Matt's recap and scene-setting: the heart of the mycelium has made a deal with the FDA, the Sanctus Putris, to release toxic spores on the war above; the party, in robes, climbs the steps of the coliseum-cathedral of Saprophus and enters; a Blueberry guard presents what "has been caught" to the Archbishop; the stone biscuit door rolls shut behind them; Archbishop Camille Colliflour, Senator Ariana, and a 10-to-12-foot Saprophian Elder step forward; the Archbishop: "On your knees".
- 00:08:57 Karna pushes Amangeaux down; Deli kneels; Raphaniel, seeing the heart, babbles ("Would you put a pastrami sandwich in a smoothie?"); Amangeaux explains how she and the Chief ended up there; the Archbishop answers.
- 00:11:03 Raphaniel, telepathically to Karna, asks whether they end it; Karna: "There is no room for discretion or stealth."; Raphaniel readies a subtle upcast Shatter; battle map; Shatter hits the Archbishop and another figure (20 thunder, 10 each); initiative.
- 00:14:36 Round 1: Raphaniel's second Shatter is made to "vanish" by a cloaked figure; Colin dashes in, hits that figure (19, 15 damage) and misses; the Archbishop begins to chant "Deus-Pa'Zuul"; Quichéi appears from behind a croissant and strikes Amangeaux twice (Karna's Silvery Barbs turns his natural 20 into a 23); Karna goes invisible toward the Archbishop; Deli confronts Gemelli, throws Detriter (17, 10 damage); Amangeaux shoots (11, miss); the Elder releases spores (9 poison on Raphaniel, Amangeaux, Colin); the Senator turns on the Archbishop and stabs her (8); FDA and Saprophian attacks on Colin, Raphaniel and Amangeaux fail — 00:14:36–00:34:13.
- 00:34:35 Round 2: Raphaniel understands "Dis-po-sal", drops the steel, takes out the shard of the Bulb, confesses to Amangeaux by telepathy, charges the heart with the light, refuses the Archbishop's offer (Insight 22) and dives into the mycelium; Colin hits the Archbishop twice (28); she transforms into an Avatar of Deus-Pa'Zuul with a mouth of spinning metal teeth and opens "disposals" in the floor; Quichéi is drawn in (28); Karna's Green-Flame Blade does 40; Deli hits three times (29, 30, 27); legendary actions — 00:34:35–01:00:34.
- 01:00:34 Round 3: Raphaniel communes with the heart ("Please, help"), shows it his nightmares, persuades it (22) and unlocks its lair actions; Colin attacks and flees; Quichéi is annihilated; Karna's second Green-Flame Blade (17) and a second Silvery Barbs; Deli pushes the Elder into the blades with a pushing attack; Amangeaux misses; the Senator is pulled into a disposal — 01:00:34–01:23:41.
- 01:24:10 Round 4: Raphaniel's Cure Wounds into the mycelium restores another fungus warrior; Insight 19 (the heart was betrayed by the Archbishop); he speaks to every Saprophian; Colin attacks; Regenerative Spores heal six; the Avatar's Devour the Flesh (25 after Anjali's Silvery Barbs) does 38 to Karna, who dies — 01:24:10–01:33:43.
- 01:33:48 Deli attacks the Avatar (13, 13, 10); the Avatar's natural 20 against Deli is halved twice to 20; Amangeaux (natural 20 Strength save) cuts at it (21); the Elder's spores: Deli (22) and Amangeaux (15) take six poison each, Colin (nine) takes 12 and is re-poisoned — 01:33:48–01:40:37.
- 01:40:42 Round 5: Raphaniel's Strength save fails (12 against 14), the disposal does 24 to his 21 hit points, and he dies in its teeth after a last speech — 01:41:01–01:43:11.
- 01:43:48 Colin, crying, flanks the Avatar with Deli, Action Surges, hits for 21 and 15 and shoulder-slams it into the teeth; the Avatar is blended and torn; the Elder expires — 01:44:07–01:49:46.
- 01:49:46 Amangeaux reaches out telepathically for the Bishop and hears nothing; Deli: "Well struck."; Deli touches the glowing line, the mycelium withdraws, and through the link Matt shows the Saprophians rising against the remaining architects, torn apart "to maintain their silence" (01:52:58), and it asks whether they can keep a secret; Amangeaux and Colin agree; group Persuasion check — 01:49:46–01:57:12.
- 01:57:12 The party flees: pushing past the stone biscuit, Saprophian citizens turn on them, spores turn purple; the rot chamber, the collapsed tunnel, a small Saprophian points the way, Deli breaks through the rocks (22) and they reach the surface; Deli is unconscious and is stabilized (Medicine 20); False Life — 01:57:12–02:07:36.
- 02:07:52 The war ends: horns of victory at Pangranos; General Rococoa slain; Gustavo Uvano's arrow kills Imperator Focaccia; the Concord, the Bulbian Oath and the Pax Calorum are established — 02:07:52.
- 02:10:34 Epilogues: Deli walks north to be an Outlander; Colin renounces his titles and hunts the Sanctus Putris; Amangeaux finds Karna's ledgers and becomes Uvano's spymaster; Karna's letter to Deli; Raphaniel's writings are found by Belizabeth Brassica, Archbishop of Greenhold — 02:10:34–02:21:43.
- 02:21:43 Matt's closing: the age of peace and "the surviving heir to Castle Candy, and his burgeoning royal family of House Rocks"; sign-off; cheers.
