Brennan has Kingston hustling down the street to a payphone because he is expecting a call UC2 E1·00:04:25. A line of people is waiting at it, and then a line of three disappears right in front of him UC2 E1·00:04:25UC2 E1·00:05:49. The phone rings, and it is his cousin Janice, almost in joyful tears, telling him she got the job at Cornell Medical UC2 E1·00:06:00UC2 E1·00:06:16. In this episode the payphone is not yet placed on any street UC2 E1·00:04:25.
The Lafayette payphone is tied to Kingston's past: in UC2_01 it is where he takes his cousin Janice's call about the Cornell job UC2 E1·00:06:16. In UC2_13 Lou says Kingston is headed to the payphone he spoke to his friend on moments before he met the Dragon of Bleecker Street UC2 E13·00:50:29. Brennan places it way downtown on Lafayette, not far from Chinatown, as the one where Kingston spoke to Janice all those years ago UC2 E13·00:50:41. He calls it "One of the last working payphones in New York City" UC2 E13·00:51:27.
Kingston pushes his divine token into the slot to try for Divine Intervention, needing a result of 1 through 11 UC2 E13·00:51:11UC2 E13·00:51:27. He rolls 64, the coin comes back out in the change tray, and Brennan says the phone is not working UC2 E13·00:51:45UC2 E13·00:51:53.
