Maria is not seen in the first episode and is only "Mom", mentioned by Sofia's brother Mario UC E1·00:35:10. Mario says Mom would like Sofia to come by for dinner at some point and calls this "the fucking olive branch" UC E1·00:35:10. Sofia says she will come by some time, and Mario suggests this Sunday UC E1·00:35:16 UC E1·00:35:24.

Maria is Sofia's mother, first only a mention by Mario UC E1·00:35:10. When Mario warns that "They'll come after Ma", Sofia suspects he is abusing her name UC E3·01:42:32 UC E3·01:42:43. Watching her family through an Unseen Servant, Sofia sees her mother weeping in the kitchen, and Brennan says she is extremely distraught while her father is remorseless UC E11·00:23:21 UC E11·00:23:59. Maria complains about having this talk in her house, says she wanted Sofia to be happy when Dale showed up, and goes out to make a lasagna UC E11·00:25:05 UC E11·00:25:28 UC E11·00:26:40.

At Christmas dinner she is the one who says "Glad you're here for Christmas, Sof" UC E11·01:43:13. Sofia leaves a note with the number of her new burner phone, saying it is only for her mother, and Maria later answers her selfie with "So cute. Love the hair" UC E11·01:44:14 UC E11·01:43:36. In Emily's epilogue, Brennan says Maria divorces Sofia's father and asks Sofia to move in together, and in the Order she says "this is better than the Jazzercise" UC E17·01:46:19 UC E17·01:45:36.
